NBA: Bosh on fire for Heat

The Miami Heat recorded a crushing 123-96 win over the Phoenix Suns in a day which the more-fancied franchises enjoyed big wins.

Elsewhere, reigning champions the Los Angeles Lakers coasted past the Detroit Pistons 103-90 while the Boston Celtics, who lost last year's NBA finals series, thrashed the Washington Wizards 114-83.
Chris Bosh led the way for the Heat with 35 points on 12-of-19 shooting as they emphatically stopped the Suns' three-game winning streak to improve to a 7-4 win-loss record.

It was normal service for the Lakers and Celtics as their star men, Kobe Bryant and Paul Pierce, returned game-high nights of 33 and 23 points respectively to allow their benches extended minutes.
The San Antonio Spurs and New Orleans Hornets both improved their league-best records to 9-1 after contrasting wins.
The Spurs easily outpaced the Chicago Bulls 103-94 but the Hornets left it late to gain revenge over the Dallas Mavericks for inflicting their first defeat of the season 99-97.

The Toronto Raptors won for just the second time this season 94-86 at the Philadelphia 76ers, with Italian forward Andrea Bargnani dropping 30 points.
The Los Angeles Clippers remained marooned on a single win after they were pipped 113-111 by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
