Carragher: Sale good for Liverpool
Veteran defender Jamie Carragher is encouraged by news that Liverpool's takeover will be complete soon.
Club chairman Martin Broughton expects the £300million sale of the club to be completed "in about a week" to New England Sports Ventures, the owners of the Boston Red Sox baseball team.
While current owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks have said they will contest the sale, there is a feeling that the final step needed for the deal to go through i.e. ratification by the Premier League, will happen sometime this week.
In comments quoted by Liverpool's official website, Carragher said:"Everyone knows it'll be a good thing for the club.
"Hopefully it will be sorted sooner rather than later and we can start looking forward on the pitch and start improving results, which is what we need to do."Liverpool have endured their worst ever start in the Premier League and are currently 18th in table.

Carragher's teammate Glen Johnson thinks major improvement is round the corner. He told liverpoolfc.tv:"Sometimes, even after a few games, people see you down there and are ready to pass out.
"But I can guarantee that at the end of the season we won't be sitting there. You have to consider the fact that everybody else is dropping points.
"The so-called lesser teams are not so much less and it means that the league is becoming more competitive.
"I know people don't really care about excuses but we're not panicking. There is a lot more to come.
"Not many points separate us from fourth so a couple of good performances and good wins will put us in a decent position for the season ahead."
The right-back identified Raul Meireles as the player to look out for.
"He looks a very good player - the kind we need. He gives different ideas and movement and opens up defences.
"He's settled really quickly but generally when a new boss and new players come in it means it's going to take time for everything to settle down.
"It would have been silly for us at the start of the season to say we were going to go the season unbeaten and win everything before us because that just isn't football."
Liverpool face Everton in the Merseyside derby after the international break.
